How Junkie works

Snap a photo, and Junkie identifies it, checks what it's really sold for and writes the listing for you. Selling your own things is free, and you keep every dollar of the sale.

From photo to listing

Step 1
Snap a few photos
The front, the back, and any marks, stamps or labels. Add anything the photos can't show, like where it came from or a chip on the base.
Step 2
Junkie works out what it is
It reads backstamps, labels and construction details like a seasoned dealer would, and tells you the maker, era and how sure it is.
Step 3
It checks what it's really worth
Junkie searches the web live for what similar pieces have actually sold for, NZ and Australian results first, and gives you a quick sale, fair and patient price.
Step 4
You check it and publish
It writes the title and description in plain Kiwi English. Tweak anything you like, then publish, save a draft or keep it in your collection.

Listing credits, and why they cost

Every time Junkie writes a listing, it runs a top-tier AI model over your photos and does live web searches for sold prices. We pay for each of those, every time, so the helper uses credits. Everyone gets 5 free to try it out. After that it's 1 credit for a standard listing, which works out at 15c to 25c depending on the pack. We've priced credits close to what each run costs us, not to make a profit on them.

Questions

Do I have to use credits to sell?

No. Tap “Skip the helper and write it myself” on the sell page and you can list anything for free, as many times as you like. Credits are only for when Junkie does the work.

What if it gets it wrong or fails?

If the helper can't finish, the credit goes straight back to you. If it finishes but you don't agree with it, change anything you like before you publish. You're always the one who hits publish.

Do credits expire?

No. Use them whenever you like.

Do you keep my photos for anything else?

Your photos are sent to our AI provider only to write your listing, and aren't used to train AI models. See our privacy page for the details.

Why not just make it free?

We'd love to, but every run costs us real money, and free-for-all would mean bots and bulk sellers running it thousands of times. Five free tries, then a few cents a listing, keeps it fair and keeps Junkie running.
